Goal

 

¨        Interested in a permanent senior technical position (e.g. senior applications architect, senior database architect, technical manager, project manager or similar)  that constitutes a “mission” wherein my ability to quickly understand both technical and business issues, manage and interact with technical and non-technical staff and customers, communicate clearly at all levels,  and still get very “hands – on” with technical details and actual programming with current  technologies will add value to my organization and provide a strong sense of personal accomplishment.

Accomplishments Summary

 

¨        Degreed engineer with over twenty-five years experience and recognized accomplishments building and maintaining new computer programs and systems.

¨        Last six and one half  years as senior technical staff member serving as Project Manager, Lead Programmer, Solution Architect, Group Supervisor on a variety of systems for a major textbook publisher.  Projects included web-based decision support systems for Manufacturing and Finance, mainframe system enhancements, complete corporate EDI hardware and software upgrade, multi-threaded VB.Net app interfacing barcode scanners to AS-400,  VB.Net automation of Microsoft Office tasks, corporate fax server upgrade, major recode of several systems for “ISBN-13” (Industry specific equivalent to Y2K).  Used extensive SQL Server , VB, ASP, ASP.NET as well as some mainframe DB2 and COBOL.

¨        One and one half years as Project Manager/Technical Team Lead for a world class computer based testing organization.   Scoped and planned potential project to use VSAT satellite communications for Internet between testing company and remote sites.  On second project, hired project team and then  designed, and implemented XML/SOAP TCP/IP (wired) internet communication protocols between Java Weblogic based corporate test banks and worldwide VB SQL based testing sites for secure test download, results upload

¨        Multiple assignments over many years as a software engineering contractor for diverse clients designing and building systems with VB, ASP and ASP.NET, C++, C# and SQL Server for client server and web projects, both as solo efforts and leading teams.

¨        Seven years leading technical and operating team assigned to procure, design and implement full scope nuclear power plant simulator to meet post Three Mile Island government mandated simulator rules. Took nuclear simulator from concept, through detailed specifications, competitive bid and contract negotiations and award, factory construction and testing,  permanent site specification, site installation and first several years of operation and upgrade of new full scale St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant control room simulator.

¨        Five years continuous thermohydralic process simulation modeling and programming  as programmer/engineer for very large electric utility.

¨        Former naval officer who can create a good balance for technical team subordinates between necessary rigor vs. creative chaos, developmental disciplines vs. freedom to experiment.  Skilled at technical mentoring and supervisory monitoring.   Get it done but have fun.
